Student Compliance and Clinical Placements

Student Compliance

MUSC College of Nursing compliance requirements are program-specific, many are required for all students. Maintaining compliance throughout the duration of enrollment in the College of Nursing and at MUSC is mandatory. To maintain compliance, all students must provide required compliance documentation as required. It is each student’s responsibility to arrange for and provide proof of compliance requirements upon request.

Clinical Placements

MUSC College of Nursing students are required to complete clinical hours at approved sites. While it is ultimately up to the student to find a clinical placement, the College of Nursing offers support during this process.

Assistance with Placements: MUSC has a large network of providers and has resources in place to assist students with their clinical placement search.

Site Opportunities: Primary care facilities (outpatient): family/internal medicine, free clinic, detention center, home health, pediatrics, school health, assisted living facility, urgent/express care (including fast-track ED)*, women’s health
Specialty clinics (outpatient): dermatology, ENT, hem/onc, neurology, developmental pediatrics, palliative care

Clinical Hours: Students are required to complete clinical hours at approved sites. These hours are essential for hands-on learning and practical application of theoretical knowledge.

Clinical Placements Steps

During the New Student Orientation, the College of Nursing (CON) will outline the steps involved in securing clinical placements. The CON will provide students with essential information about the placement process, expectations, and timelines. The CON is committed to supporting students throughout their clinical journey.
