MUSC College of Nursing students are required to complete clinical hours at approved sites. The College of Nursing offers support and resources throughout the program to assist students with securing their clinical sites and preceptors.

Clinical Placements

MUSC College of Nursing students are required to complete clinical hours at approved sites. While it is ultimately up to the student to find a clinical placement, the College of Nursing offers support during this process.

Assistance with Placements: MUSC has a large network of providers and has resources in place to assist students with their clinical placement search.

Site Opportunities: Primary care facilities (outpatient): family/internal medicine, free clinic, detention center, home health, pediatrics, school health, assisted living facility, urgent/express care (including fast-track ED)* Specialty clinics (outpatient): dermatology, ENT, hem/onc, neurology, developmental pediatrics, palliative care.

Clinical Hours: Students are required to complete clinical hours at approved sites. These hours are essential for hands-on learning and practical application of theoretical knowledge.

Clinical Placements Steps

Beginning with the New Student Orientation, the College of Nursing (CON) will outline the steps involved in securing clinical placements. The CON will provide students with essential resources and information about the placement process, expectations, and timelines. The CON is committed to supporting students throughout their clinical journey. We offer personalized assistance, including one-on-one meetings and mentorship, ensuring a smoother transition into clinical practice.
