Next Steps

Next Steps Behavioral Healthcare Program is an evidenced-based co-located behavioral healthcare program in a child or adolescent’s primary care medical home. Providing behavioral healthcare in a known and trusted setting is integral to facilitating trust and destigmatizing behavioral healthcare conditions.

As behavioral healthcare diagnoses like anxiety and depression continue to rise in the pediatric population, the expansion of behavioral healthcare models is essential to fill the needs of pediatric patients. Next Steps has created new pathways to care for children and families experiencing behavioral healthcare concerns.

Next Steps provides the following services for culturally and linguistically appropriate care, focusing on the first-generation Latin American population of children and families:

  • Psychiatric mental health nurse practitioners,
  • Behavioral healthcare counselors
  • Community health workers services
