MUSC College of Nursing to Host the ELNEC Summit

March 13, 2026

The Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) College of Nursing will host a national conference this summer aimed at strengthening nurses’ leadership in palliative care.

The End-of-Life Nursing Education Consortium (ELNEC) Summit, scheduled for August 20 – 21, 2026, in Charleston, will bring together nursing faculty, clinicians and health care educators from across the country to advance palliative care education and practice.

The two-day summit will offer specialized training tracks including APRN Adult, Communication (Revamped), Core/Critical Care and Pediatric Palliative Care, allowing participants to deepen their expertise in providing compassionate care for patients with serious illness.

The ELNEC initiative is a national education program developed by the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) in collaboration with City of Hope to improve palliative care education for nurses. Through its train-the-trainer model, participants learn evidence-based practices and return to their institutions prepared to teach this critical content to other nurses and health professionals.

The ELNEC program has trained nurses and health professionals worldwide, helping integrate palliative care principles into nursing education, clinical practice and health systems.

By hosting the summit, MUSC College of Nursing continues its commitment to advancing nursing leadership and improving patient-centered care. Participants will engage in interactive sessions, learn from national palliative care leaders and build networks with colleagues dedicated to strengthening palliative care education across the profession.
