MUSC CON Scholarships

Eligibility

To be considered for a College of Nursing scholarship, you must be a fully matriculated student (full-time or part-time) in the RN-BSN, BSN, MSN, DNP, or PhD degree programs.
Students must complete:

·       A CON Scholarship Application annually

·       A Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The FAFSA must be updated annually.

Please note that this is a full list of scholarships managed by the MUSC Foundation on behalf of the MUSC College of Nursing. Due to scholarship criteria, restrictions, and available funding some scholarship may become temporarily unavailable but will still appear on this list.

Scholarships
125th Anniversary Scholarship
- This is award is given to an incoming or returning College of Nursing student enrolled in any program.

135th Anniversary Scholarship - This is award is given to an incoming or returning College of Nursing student enrolled in any program.

Amelia Kaasa Rowland Scholarship- This award is given to an incoming or returning College of Nursing student in the BSN program that is a single parent with at least a 3.0 GPA and demonstrated financial need.

Annie M.K. Norton Scholarship - This award is given to a female incoming or returning College of Nursing student enrolled in any program with a demonstrated financial need and at least a 3.0 GPA.

Barbara Sutton Pace Scholarship - This award is a merit based award given to an incoming or returning College of Nursing student in any program with a financial need.

Betty C. Kelchner Scholarship - This award is given to an incoming or returning College of Nursing student enrolled in any program.

Betty Murray Kinard Scholarship - This award is given to an incoming or returning College of Nursing student enrolled in any program with a demonstrated financial need and at least a 3.0 GPA.

Caroline W. Davis RN Scholarship Endowment - This award is given to a South Carolina resident with at least a 3.0 GPA enrolled as student in the BSN program at the College of Nursing.

Cecelia Peng Scholarship - This award is given to an incoming or returning College of Nursing student in the DNP/MSN program. Preference shall be given to students with interest or experience in operating room nursing.

Clair Family Scholarship – This award is given to an incoming or returning College of Nursing student enrolled in the FNP (Family Nurse Practitioner) track of the MSN/DNP program.

College of Nursing Alumni Association Scholarships - At the discretion of the College of Nursing’s Alumni Board, 4 scholarships may be awarded annually to students enrolled in any program based on academic performance, community involvement, leadership, and financial need.

Dorothy Johnson Crews Scholarship - This award is given to an incoming or returning College of Nursing student in any program with a demonstrated financial need. Preference is given to Newberry County, SC residents.

Eleanor Shealy Adeimy Scholarship- This award is given to an incoming or returning student in the RN- BSN program with a minimum 3.0 GPA. Preference is given to a student with financial need.

Dr. Heidar A. Modaresi Nursing Scholarship- This award is given to an incoming or returning College of Nursing student enrolled in any of the programs. Student must identify as an underrepresented minority individual and must have a minimum 3.0 GPA and a demonstrated financial need. This award may be used to recruit new students to the College of Nursing.

Helene Fuld Trust Scholarship – This award is given to a College of Nursing student enrolled in the Accelerated BSN program who has a completed FAFSA on file with Office of Financial Aid. Financial need, academic performance, and professional behavior in academic and clinical environments will be evaluated. Students who receive the Helene Fuld Trust Scholarship will not be eligible to receive other College of Nursing scholarships and must be in good academic standing.

Gail W. Stuart Scholarship- This award is given to an incoming or returning student in one of the graduate programs at the College of Nursing. First preference is given to a DNP-Ph.D. student with second priority given to a Ph.D. student.

Izant Family Foundation - This award is given to an incoming or returning College of Nursing student in the graduate degree programs.

Jean P. Wilson Scholarship - This award is given to an incoming or returning College of Nursing student in an undergraduate program with a financial need and a high GPA. Preference is given to SC residents.

John and Mary Lou Barter Scholarship - This award is given to an incoming or returning College of Nursing student in any program. Preference is given to an underrepresented (including men) population in nursing.

Joseph and Terese Williams Scholarship - This award is given to an incoming or returning College of Nursing student in any program of study.

Julie and Anthony Lanzone Scholarship- This award is given to an incoming or returning student enrolled in the BSN program with a minimum 3.0 GPA and a demonstrated financial need.

J. W. Thurmond Scholarship - This award is given to a South Carolina resident that is an incoming College of Nursing student with a demonstrated financial need. This scholarship is not renewable.

Lettie Pate Whitehead Scholarship - This award is given to an incoming or returning female student in any College of Nursing program. The student must be a resident of Georgia, South Carolina, Virginia, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Tennessee, or Florida and a Christian.

Margaret Ann Kerr Scholarship - This award is given to an incoming or returning College of Nursing student in any program.

Marguerite Andell Scholarship - This award is given to an incoming or returning College of Nursing student enrolled in any program.

Marianna Stuart Mason Memorial Scholarship - This award is given to a "truly empathetic, caring, and dedicated nurse." The recipient may be an incoming or returning College of Nursing student with a financial need, at least a 3.0 GPA and enrolled in MSN track that is consistent with a commitment to improving maternal-child health.

Marianne T. Chitty Scholarship - This award is given to an incoming or returning College of Nursing student enrolled in any program with a demonstrated financial need and demonstrated merit.

Marvin and Cleo T. McAlhaney Scholarship - This award is given to an incoming or returning College of Nursing student enrolled in any program with a financial need and at least a 2.0 GPA. Preference is given a student that is a resident of Upper Dorchester County, SC but the award may be given at the discretion of the College of Nursing.

Maude E. Callen Scholarship - This award is given to a returning, full-time College of Nursing student in the DNP/MSN Program with a financial need and at least a 3.0 GPA. Student should demonstrate interest/intention to serve in rural area of Southeast. Preference is also given FNP (Family Nurse Practitioner), midwifery, and/or A/GNP (Adult/Geriatric Nurse Practitioner) student with demonstrated involvement in community and/or religious life.

McClelland Palmer Scholarship- This award is given to an incoming or returning student in the BSN program with a demonstrated financial need.

MUSC Medical Center Scholarships - These awards are given to employees of Medical University Hospital Authority (MUHA) and incoming Accelerated BSN students with outstanding academic qualifications, financial need. There is a two-year commitment to MUHA following graduation and an interview process for applicants.

Nina Smith Scholarship - This award is given to an incoming or returning College of Nursing student enrolled in any program. This award is designated for single parents who have custody of and are supporting a minor child or children.

Olivette Garr Smith Scholarship- This award is a merit based scholarship for incoming or returning College of Nursing students enrolled in any program.

PhD Student Scholarship- This award is given to an incoming or returning College of Nursing student enrolled in the Ph.D. program.

Provost and Dean’s Scholarships – These awards are given to incoming or returning College of Nursing student in any program with at least a 3.0 GPA, and demonstrated financial need. Awards are based on the availability funds.

Reba Carter O'Keeffe Scholarship - This award is given to an incoming or returning College of Nursing student enrolled in any program. Preference is given to a resident of Colleton County, SC, but may be given at the discretion of the College of Nursing.

Ruth Chamberlin Scholarship - This award is given to an incoming or returning College of Nursing student in any program with a 3.0 GPA.

Samuel Steinberg Nursing Scholarship- This nonrenewable award is given to an incoming or returning College of Nursing student in any of the programs. The recipient must meet the criteria of a high Graduate Records Examination (GRE) score and maintain at least a 3.0 GPA. Preference is given to a student who is a graduate of Trident Technical College prior to becoming a MUSC nursing student.

Sara Piechnik Scholarship – This award is given to an incoming or returning College of Nursing student in the DNP or PhD program who has a background in nurse midwifery.

Stephen and Ruth P. Stewart Scholarship - This award is given to an incoming or returning College of Nursing student in the DNP or PhD program

Ted and Joan Halkyard Scholarship - This award is given to an incoming or returning College of Nursing student in any program with at least a 3.0 GPA. The student must identify as an underrepresented ethnic minority student.

Thomas J. Wiscarz Scholarship - This award is given to a male College of Nursing student in any program with at least a 3.0 GPA and demonstrated financial need.

Ursula Caton Memorial Fund – This award is given to an incoming or returning student in any program that is a mother (to children) who's returning to school to obtain her education at the College of Nursing.


Renewable Scholarships:

The below renewable scholarships follow the recipient through their tenure at the MUSC College of Nursing pending funds are available and the student remains in good standing with the college and continues to meet the scholarship criteria. Please note that this is a full list of renewable scholarships managed by the MUSC Foundation on behalf of the MUSC College of Nursing. Due to scholarship criteria, restrictions, and available funding some scholarship may become temporarily unavailable but will still appear on this list.

James B. Edwards Nursing Scholarship- This award is given to an incoming or returning College of Nursing student in the DNP program with at least a 3.0 GPA and demonstrated financial need. This scholarship is renewable.

Marie LePrince Farmer Scholarship - This award is given to an incoming or returning College of Nursing student enrolled in the BSN program with at least a 3.0 GPA and a demonstrated financial need. Preference will be given to an underrepresented ethnic minority, and a single parent who would otherwise be unable to attend a nursing program at MUSC. This scholarship is renewable provided the student maintains progress in the program.

Virginia Harper Scholarship - This award is given to a full-time, incoming or returning College of Nursing student that is less than 30 years old enrolled in any program. Student must have a demonstrated financial need and at least a 3.0 GPA. This scholarship is renewable for 4 semesters pending funding is available.

Elsie Morgan Scholarship - This merit-based award is given to an incoming or returning College of Nursing student in any program with a financial need. This is a renewable scholarship pending the students maintains both academic standards and financial need.

Joan K. Rigter Nursing Scholarship- This award is given to an incoming or returning College of Nursing student in any program with a high financial need. Preference is given to students from the Charleston area.

Roper St. Francis Healthcare Patron Nursing Scholarship - This award is given to an incoming Accelerated BSN student with outstanding academic qualifications and financial need. There is a one year commitment to Roper-St. Francis Healthcare following graduation and an interview process for applicants.

Bev and Wally Seinsheimer Scholarship- This fully renewable scholarship is given to a female incoming College of Nursing student in the BSN program with at least a 3.0 GPA and demonstrated financial need. The financial need should be first taken into consideration with GPA being considered next. Preference is given to a minority student.

Dr. Deborah C. Williamson Nursing Scholarship- This award is given to a DNP student in their second or third year with a 3.0 GPA or higher. Student must have an established interest in working in primary care in underserved populations. First preference to students who graduated from high school in a rural area. Second preference to an underrepresented ethnic or racial minority student. Scholarship may be awarded consecutively to the same student for the duration of his/her program pending funds are available.

Patrick and Maureen Marr Scholarship - This award is given to an incoming College of Nursing student enrolled in the ABSN program with financial need and a minimum 3.0 GPA.  This is renewable provided the student remains in good standing.
